Camera techniques and operations

  • Wide-shot
  • Midshot
  • Closeup

Wide-shot can be used for action, to get the whole scene
Midshot is shot from the waist up
Closeup are used for more emotional shots.

Storyboards are rough illustrations used to give a correct order of thought as the creator storyboards allows them to see a rough copy of their original idea. It also will help people you are working with to understand your vision. For storyboards you can either make this through drawings or still shots.

Rule of thirds is used to divide the shot and therefore it makes it easier to position your subject.

High angle shots make the subject seam weak whereas low angle shots make the subject look dominant.
Continuity is ensuring the shots make sense when put together

180 degree rule is when the two subjects in separate shots are looking at each other.

Shot reverse shot is going back and forth between two subjects can be used in conversations.

Steadicam is keeping the camera steady with a dolly or a tripod
